Townhouse

This piece is based off my childhood love of the Townhouse Restaurant in Oviedo, Florida. Going there was a family tradition growing up, especially with my Papa, who passed away when I was 8. My favorite memories of him are in that restaurant. When we’d go, I’d always get the smiley face pancakes, which I remember being perfectly decorated, though my mom informed me they were always lopsided and a little melted. My Papa also introduced me to delicious Virginia ham, which he would order like rounds of beer, gesturing to our waiter for another slice.

To prepare for this design, I went to Townhouse Restaurant and ordered my smiley face pancake and a slice of Virginia ham. The total on the check represents the total I paid that day, and the notes in the order section are mine and my Papa’s initials. The pancake may not have been as perfectly decorated as I remembered, but it brought a smile to my face just like it always has.
